Wrestling

For the most part Rocky and I get along quite well. But sometimes we don’t. And one day we got into a wrestling match so Julie told us to take it outside. We went out to the back yard to settle our fight in the ways of dogs. First we had a stand-off:

Then Rocky pinned me down in a headlock:

Coco

Last week we introduced you to our friend Ruby. Now this week, please meet Coco, the cocker spaniel:

Coco is a rescue dog. He came from a very bad situation and our Aunt Carey adopted him and has been caring for him very well. He is a fluffy dog with big ol’ round eyes. And he played with us!

Our friend Ruby

This is one of our doggie friends. Her name is Ruby and she lives in Mississippi on a farm. We visited with her earlier this month.

Taking over

I took over the office chair today. Too bad if someone else needs it because I have decided that it is a great place to take a nap.

Dog Days of Summer

We’re having what they call “dog days of summer” around here. I have no idea who named it that. This is when the weather is hot hot hot and summer seems like it will never end.

I mean, it is not as if the dogs cause it to be hot. Dogs don’t rule the world, you know.

But on second thought, maybe they do. At least they run this household.

Rocky and I tell the human folk when to get up in the mornings. We tell them when doggie meals should happen. We greet them and make them happier. We guard against intruders. We chase all the frogs away from the yard so folks don’t have to deal with lazy frogs.

Yep, so I guess we control the climate now too. Because why else would they call these the dog days of summer?

Rocky Speaks

Take a look at this latest picture of me, Rocky The Dog:

I am truly a magnificent beast, right? It has been a long, hot summer here in Texas. I sure wish we could have some cooler weather. Unfortunately, cooler weather doesn’t arrive in our part of Texas until around November.

We’ve been going to the park every day lately and having lots of fun. One of the parks we go to has a water fountain that sprays up out of the ground. Toot loves to get in that water but Max and I stay out of it. We do have great fun nosing around and smelling all the new smells in the park, though.

Hot Dogs

It happened again. Julie and Toot went on a trip and didn’t take me and Rocky with them. They went to New York City. Do you know how many years now that I have dreamed of going to New York City? I am fairly certain the minute those producers at Radio City Music Hall get a gander at me and Rocky, they will be falling at our feet with offers of letting us perform on their stage.

But no, instead me and Rocky had to be “boarded” at the groomer. I mean, it was ok and all. But it was a wee bit boring. To make it up to us, Julie bought us these snazzy new name tags:

I did hear something very concerning about the trip: those New Yorkers sell hot dogs on the street for people to eat. So maybe it is best that Rocky and I didn’t go to a place where they eat dogs. Because, well, we are dogs.

Open up!

Do you know why we are sitting here with our mouths hanging open?

We were hoping that if we left our mouths open, someone would pop a treat into our mouths!

Catching up

Sorry for the long delay in a new post. Rocky and I have been busy…well…sleeping and stuff. It is the middle of the crazy hot summer here in south Texas and let me tell ya, it is HOT. And humid. We are very appreciative of the nice air-conditioning. We are little miffed that Julie and Sidney went to the Alamo this month without us. Rocky and I have never been to the Alamo and we would like to visit it. And then they went to a cool park with waterfalls and we missed out that too! Ah well, we can always look at the pictures and pretend we were there.
