I had to chuckle when I read this blog post from a Francophile who is a new resident to Austin, Texas and recently made the trip to Houston to visit the Rothko Chapel.
En route to Houston, she and her husband stopped at a Buc-ee’s convenience store, although I think "convenience" store is a misnomer in this case. I’ve known about Buc-ee’s for years since they are headquartered here in my town of Lake Jackson.
Buc-ee’s is the yardstick by which all convenience stores should be measured. They are super clean. Their bathrooms are palatial and very nicely decorated. They always have employees at the cash registers (no waiting while the clerks juggle mutiple tasks like stocking and cleaning.) And the assortment of merchandise and food is excellent.
Our local Buc-ee’s also sports a coffee shop to rival Starbuck’s.
Buc-ee’s is slowly building more locations across Texas so taking road trips across the Lone Star State is getting more enjoyable.
